The question as to who will take over from Arsene Wenger as Arsenal Manager has finally been answered. Former Sevilla and PSG boss Unai Emery is the man who has been tasked with filling a very big pair of shoes in North London.

The man who has tasted Europa League success with Sevilla has the brief to turn around the fortunes of the Gunners, as the club have slipped behind their arch rivals Tottenham over the past few seasons.

A sixth-place finish last season was perhaps not the ending that Arsene Wenger would have wanted after such a long stint at the Emirates, but at the same time it was this slow decline that was the exact reason that the legendary French manager decided to part company with the club.

With the appointment of Emery, it certainly raises an interesting prospect, one that sees the Spaniard named as Head Coach and not Manager. Not only that but there will be a difference in the way transfers are conducted.

Where Wenger had a full remit which included coaching, team selection and transfers, the latter is not something that will be afforded to the new Arsenal boss. Instead the purchasing of players will be carried out by a three man transfer committee.

Although Emery will have some element of input in terms of the targets he wants to bring to the club, it will be the trio of men charged with heading up the transfer department that will be responsible for securing any prospective deals.

And they will have to do so with relatively tight parameters over the course of the Summer. It is reported that there is a transfer budget of just £50m to spend once the transfer window opens next month.

That would indicate that although there is not a lot of money to initially start with, Emery has at least been promised that any money he makes from transfer sales can be added to the current purchasing budget.

It could well be a case of having to sell before the club can buy, and with a new manager at the helm it is fair to say that he is going to want to try and mould the playing personnel into a squad that he can truly call his own.

Arsene Wenger was often accused of being too loyal to his players and lacked the necessary ruthless streak that was required to make sure Arsenal stayed at the very top but you get the feeling that Unai Emery will have to display those traits if the club are to get back to challenging for the top prizes once more.

With the Premier League being such a ruthless league, the pressure will be on Emery from the start. Not only that but the Arsenal fanbase was so divided last season, he can ill afford to stutter in the first few weeks and months.

It is exciting times in both halves of North London, Mauricio Pochettino signs a new contract at Tottenham, while Arsenal name a new manager. Can the former continue their recent dominance, or can Unai Emery revive the Gunners fortunes? Next season will go some way to providing the answer.
