According to Sky Sports Italy and the Daily Star, Premier League Liverpool are close to signing Roma winger Mohamed Salah after personal terms were agreed with the former Chelsea ace.
The two clubs still need to agree on a fee for the highly-rated Egyptian international, as the Reds have already had a £28million bid rejected with the Giallorossi reported to be looking for a fee closer to £35million.
However, a compromise is expected, as the winger is believed to fancy a return to the Premier League, where he had failed to make an impact with Chelsea.
Salah was regarded as a flop at Chelsea but has impressed at Roma in the past season and a half. In fact, the winger scored 19 times last season and also produced 13 assists in 39 appearances for the team from the eternal city, who finished second in Serie A with a club-record points total.
Salah made just 19 appearances for Chelsea in two seasons, having arrived from Swiss champions Basel as a bright young prospect. The winger was unable to ever nail down a starting spot in a star-studded Chelsea starting line-up.
His performances in Rome have shown that he has matured in the past few years and at 24-years-old maybe he is now ready for life in the English top-flight.
The Egyptian looks like the sort of player that will fit into an exciting Liverpool team under Jurgen Klopp, alongside the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho.
Roma will obviously not want to lose such a key player this summer and will hold out for a big fee. However, if Salah does want another crack at the Premier League, then Roma may well be fighting a losing battle to keep hold of the highly-rated wide-man.
