Romelu Lukaku’s underrated at times

Romelu Lukaku’s underrated at times

On Saturday afternoon Everton striker Romelu Lukaku scored four times, as the Toffees hammered Bournemouth 6-3 at Goodison Park. The game was a highly entertaining one, but it was Lukaku’s display that stood out.

The big Belgian striker not only scored four times he also had a massive hand in another goal, as the Toffees produced a rampant attacking display. It is easy to forget that Lukaku is just 23-years of age.

The former Chelsea star has now scored 16 Premier League goals for the campaign and tops the scoring charts. He is just two goals short of his league goal tally from last season in the top-flight and looks certain to surpass that tally.

The Toffees striker has now got into double figures in his last five seasons in the Premier League, despite his relatively tender years. That is some achievement for a player that is often derided by neutrals and his own fans alike.

Lukaku seems to have everything a striker needs to be successful at the top of the game. Performances like Saturday’s show just how good Lukaku can be when he is at the top of his game. He is strong, quick and can dribble at opponents.

The young striker has been heavily linked with a return to Chelsea and has made no secret of his ambition to play in the Champions League in the near future. Everton are ambitious, but it seems unlikely the Toffees can make the top-four this season.

However, the Merseysiders are likely to majorly strengthen their squad in the summer. Everton fans will be hoping that the clubs ambitions will mean they can keep hold of their star striker.

At 23 years-old Romelu Lukaku is only going to get better and maybe one day he will get the recognition he seems to desperately crave.
