Antonio Conte’s Magical Career so Far Puts Spurs in Their Best Position for a Trophy

Despite all the form and title-winning credentials Tottenham Hotspur showed under Mauricio Pochettino, the club still never got their hands on any silverware and were left red-faced as he and the club continued to fail.
Now, however, with titles won across Italy and England, Spurs are in treasured hands with Antonio Conte. We take a look at Conte’s career so far.
Serie B and Serie A Triumphs
For most managers in today’s age, particularly in the Premier League, they tend to be thrown straight into the firing range. Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and many others have not worked around the block enough and came straight into the Premier League based on their experience as a player.
Conte, however, has earned his stripes. The Italian first won a trophy as manager in Serie B, as he guided Bari to win the title in 2008/09 and subsequently earned promotion to Serie A.
To put this in perspective, Bari have only just come back up to Serie B from Serie C and also spent many years down in the lower tiers before Conte earned promotion.
In typical Conte style, Bari were excellent that year and secured promotion by a comfortable 12 points on third-placed Livorno. The club won 22 of the 42 games in Serie B, letting in only 35 goals and scoring 65 of their own too.
Years later, Conte would put himself in a unique category of men who have won Serie A as a player and manager and also won Serie B in the process.
Three consecutive victories in Serie A saw Juventus win almost everything in his sight and lose just 15 games from 151 matches at the helm.
This also witnessed Conte grab the Supercoppa Italiana and earn the chance to manage his country, where after two years, the former Juventus man would lead Italy to a quarter-finals loss to Germany at Euro 2016.
Conte also won the Serie A with Inter with a stunning record of 102 games played and just 15 lost, meaning he has won the Serie A from four of his five seasons in the top flight.
Back in England
Chelsea may turn against Conte now he’s at Spurs, but this cannot look past the fact the Italian won the FA Cup and Premier League in just two years at the club.
Just 20 losses came in across 106 matches for Chelsea, as Conte broke all kinds of records in the season.
30 wins from 38 games was the most any side had won up until that stage in the Premier League, and with an incredible 93 points and 33 goals conceded, Conte wrote his name in English folklore.
