5 Premier League teenagers set to breakout in 2022-23

5 Premier League teenagers set to breakout in 2022-23
1885

Teenagers such as Tino Livramento, Harvey Elliot and Fabio Silva enjoyed breakout campaigns in the Premier League last season. Who will be the new starlets next term?

Given the popularity of the Premier League, there are very few hidden gems in England’s top tier. However, you may not have heard of some of the following up-and-coming talents.

• Hannibal Mejbri – Manchester United

After coming through Manchester United’s youth teams, there is a sense that Hannibal Mejbri is ready to shine on the big stage. In fact, the gifted midfielder made two Premier League appearances towards the end of last season.

He may only be 19, but Hannibal already has 16 international caps for Tunisia under his belt. This suggests that he can become a key player for new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

• Carney Chukwuemeka – Aston Villa

Having represented England at various youth levels, Carney Chukwuemeka is no stranger to pressure. Funnily enough, the 18-year-old was born in Austria. But he has pledged his allegiance to the Three Lions.

Chukwuemeka made 12 Premier League appearances last term, two in the starting XI and ten from the bench. He even managed to grab his first assist against Norwich City, proving that he is capable of creating goals.

• Jarrad Branthwaite – Everton

Jarrad Branthwaite racked up four Premier League starts for Everton last season and even managed to score a memorable maiden goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

That said, the 19-year-old isn’t renowned for his goalscoring ability. The tall, powerful and quick centre-back possesses all the right attributes to become a top Premier League defender. Can Frank Lampard unlock his potential?

• Amad Diallo – Manchester United

Like Hannibal, Amad Diallo is another Man Utd teenager who will be looking for game-time under ten Hag. Of course, competition for places is fierce at Old Trafford. But the young Ivorian should be given a chance.

Diallo bagged one goal and one assist for the Red Devils before spending the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Scottish side Rangers. Time will tell whether he is good enough to force his way into ten Hag’s thoughts.

• Charlie Cresswell – Leeds United

When Charlie Cresswell made his England U21 debut back in November, it was clear that he was going to go far. He will now be looking to break into Leeds’ first team and cement a place in the line-up.

Last season, Cresswell made four appearances under Marcelo Bielsa but was only handed 45 minutes of action under Jesse Marsch. Hopefully, the 19-year-old centre-back can prove his worth to his new manager.
