Paco Alcacer will struggle to play at Barcelona
Spanish champions have completed the £27.3million signing of striker Paco Alcacer from La Liga rivals Valencia. The Spanish international striker has signed a five-year deal with the Catalan giants having passed his medical on Tuesday. The deal comes on the striker’s 23rd birthday.
Los Ches have signed Barcelona’s young forward Munir on a season-loan as part of the deal and could sign the forward next summer for a fee of around £10.2million.
Alcacer is highly-rated and scored 13 goals in La Liga last season, but the Spanish international will struggle to play first team football at the Nou Camp this season. Barcelona has arguably the best front three in the world in Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar in their squad.
For the past few seasons, the trio have been highly prolific in front of goal and none of the trio are likely to be dropped at any point. None of the three likes to be rested either, so Alcacer has a major job on his hand breaking into the front three.
Munir is highly-rated, but the youngster has enjoyed limited because of the presence of the current brilliant Barcelona trio. Alcacer runs the risk of wasting his career sitting on the Barcelona substitute’s bench.
However, no doubt the lure of a move to one of the biggest football clubs in the world will have been hard to resist. If Alcacer manages to break into the Barcelona starting line-up on a regular basis then he will have already achieved a major feat in ousting one of world football’s best strikers from the Blaugrana’s starting line-up.
