Liverpool could be Premier League dark horses

Liverpool could be Premier League dark horses

Liverpool produced a stunning display of attacking football in the first 20 minutes of their 4-3 victory at Arsenal on Sunday. The Reds were poor for the majority of the first half and found themselves one goal down courtesy of a Theo Walcott strike.

However, a stunning free-kick in first half stoppage-time from Philippe Coutinho level the scores at half-time. Further strikes from Adam Lallana, a second from Coutinho and a solo effort from Sadio Mane gave the Merseysiders a 4-1 lead.

The Gunners got goals back through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers, but the Reds hung on to a deserved win in the end.

Jurgen Klopp’s description of the sort of football he likes his teams to play is heavy-metal and that second half blitz of goals certainly lived-up to the tag. Coutinho was outstanding and if the Brazilian can remain fit and in-form he could be one of the stand-out players in the English top-flight.

The Reds certainly have attacking options in abundance, with even attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum playing in a slightly withdraw role against the Gunners. The only concern for the Reds is that their defence is still shaky.

However, if boss Klopp can sort out his defence in the next couple of months then Liverpool could make a big splash in the Premier League this season.

Last season the side from Merseysiders were highly unpredictable, but if the German get slightly more consistency into his team then Liverpool could be the dark horses for the Premier League title this season, although a top-four challenge looks more likely.

One for is for sure there are not going to be many dull Liverpool games this season and Klopp’s side will certainly put on a show win, lose or draw.
