New arrivals will bring winning mentality to United

A couple of days ago French midfielder Paul Pogba completed his long awaited move from Juventus to Manchester United for a reported fee of £89million. The deal had been mooted for much of the summer and the 23-year-old has the Red Devils a world-record fee.

Pogba left United as a free agent for Juventus in 2012. The Red Devils only received a tiny amount of compensation for the then-precocious teenager. Pogba has grown a lot as a man and a footballer in those four years.

One of the mental attributes he will have picked-up at Juventus is a winning mentality. The Bianconeri have dominated Italian football in recent years. The midfielder won four Serie A titles and he will be winning mode heading to United.

He is accustomed to winning, so the midfielder will be bring that winning mentality to the United dressing room. His attitude is likely to spur his teammates on, just like Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Jose Mourinho’s winning mentalities will affect the team’s performances in the new campaign.

Since the retirement of legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson the Red Devils have struggled to recapture that winning mentality previously evident at the club.

It seems the club hierarchy are no long happy with not challenging for the title and have gone for bust this summer with the new arrivals. There is no doubt about it Manchester United look stronger all-round than last season.

There is a sense that the winning mentality will quickly return under Mourinho with the likes of Ibrahimovic and Pogba on the pitch. United are clear challengers for the Premier League title and it would be difficult to write them at this stage of the campaign.
