Euro 2016 Golden Boot contenders: Romelu Lukaku

Belgium are considering to be one of the favourites to win Euro 2016 and they will be looking to Everton striker Romelu Lukaku to fire them to glory in France.

The 22-year-old will be competing with the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Divock Origi and Christian Benteke for the main striker berth, but is expected to start to the tournament as the Red Devils first choice though.

Lukaku has been prolific in recent seasons in the English top-flight. Last season the 23-year-old scored 25 times in all competitions, including 18 in the Premier League.

His goals helped the Toffees to the semi-finals of both the FA Cup and Capital One Cup. A blot on his copybook last season was a missed penalty kick in his sides 2-1 defeat against in the FA Cup semi against Manchester United.

The former-Chelsea striker has reportedly attracted the interest of a number of top European clubs and is expected to leave Merseyside this summer, with former-club Chelsea and Manchester United believed to be interested in signing the prolific frontman.

On the international stage Lukaku struggled to make an impact in qualification, as he failed to score in his five appearances. The striker has a mediocre scoring record at international level having scored 14 times in 44 appearances for his country.

Lukaku did score in a 1-1 friendly draw with Finland and he will be hoping that he can rediscover his early season club form, after failing to score for Everton in his last ten appearances.

One major bonus that Lukaku has is the fact that he has the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard, amongst others to supply the ammunition. He may not be the favourite for the Golden Boot, but he has to be a dangerous outsider.
