Romelu Lukaku not yet world-class

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has finally admitted that he wants to leave the Toffees in search of titles elsewhere. He joined the side from Merseyside for a club-record fee of around £28million in 2014 and has been relatively prolific for the Toffees.

This season he has been prolific in front of goal scoring 25 goals in all competitions and helping his team to semi-finals of both the League Cup and the FA Cup. However the Toffees finished a highly-disappointing 11th position in the Premier League table.

At times he was outstanding for Roberto Martinez’s side, but his form dipped dramatically in the second half of the campaign. In fact in the 2-1 FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester United the striker missed a number of opportunities to score, including missing a penalty kick.

The 23-year-old no doubt has immense potential and could develop into a world-class striker in the future. However he still has work to do to become a world-class striker. His attitude was questioned at Everton towards the end of the campaign, as his form nosedived.

Media reports suggest that former-club Chelsea and Premier League Manchester United are interested in signing the striker this summer.

Everton are in a position that they do not need to sell the striker, but if they do agree to sell the former-Anderlecht star then the Toffees could double their investment.

Lukaku seems to believe that he is ready to play for team that is challenging for titles and in the Champions League. For all his promise as a player he is not yet world-class and his attitude will need to improve if he ever wants to fulfil his immense potential at his next club.
