Liverpool never do anything the easy way in Europe
Liverpool’s incredible 4-3 victory over Dortmund in the Europa League quarter-final second leg was yet another crazy European night for the Merseysiders. Jurgen Klopp’s side claimed a 5-4 aggregate victory to set-up a semi-final meeting with Spanish side Villarreal.
No matter how the Reds are doing in the Premier League, they have the ability to produce amazing comebacks in European games, especially at Anfield. It seems that Liverpool always have to do it the hard way and cannot win a European tie without making it difficult for themselves.
The Reds form in the Premier League has been rather questionable, even under the much-vaunted Klopp, but they still have the ability to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat on those special European nights.
If only the players and fans could produce the same sort of performances for the league games, as atmospheres at Liverpool’s stadium have been rather flat for the Premier League games.
Maybe the Premier League does not distil the fans with the same passion as those European nights. Maybe it is because fans who do not usually attend Anfield for the Premier League games go to the European games and so make the most of their trip to the famous old ground.
At 3-2 to Dortmund there was almost something inevitable about Liverpool scoring the goals they need. It is like no matter whom pulls on that red shirt Liverpool always have the ability to pull games back from the brink.
If they produced the same sort of performances week-in and week-out then the Reds would be higher-up in the Premier League table.
