Sheffield United 3-3 Manchester United: Match Report, Statistics, and Analysis
2957

Oliver McBurnie scored a dramatic late equaliser to rescue a point for Sheffield United against Manchester United, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had come from 2-0 down to lead at Bramall Lane.

The Blades started the game brightly and completely dominated the visitors in the early stages. John Fleck opened the scoring when John Lundstram’s shot rebounded kindly off David de Gea and into his path.

Lys Mousset doubled Sheff Utd’s advantage on 52 minutes with a brilliant low finish from just outside the penalty area.

However, three goals in seven second-half minutes for Man Utd completely turned the game on its head.

Left-back Brandon Williams scored the Red Devils’ first goal on 72 minutes. The 19-year-old fired a powerful shot into the bottom corner to bring his team to life.

Substitute Mason Greenwood levelled the game with a calm finished, before Marcus Rashford put Man Utd ahead and completed an unlikely comeback.

But there was still time for more drama as McBurnie snatched a draw in the 90th minute. There were claims of a handball in the build-up, but after a lengthy VAR check, the goal was given.

Manchester United were completely outplayed in the first half, but Solskjaer’s men ended up with far more possession in the end. Still, Man Utd failed to come away with all three points.

Sheff Utd were ultimately more clinical in front of goal. Three-quarters of the Blades’ shots hit the target, while less than half of Man Utd’s efforts were on goal.

Man of the Match: Lys Mousset (Sheffield United)

Mousset played a big role in Sheff Utd’s opening goal, before finding the back of the net himself with a fantastic finish early in the second half.

The French forward has now scored four goals in his last eight league appearances and also registered a hat-trick of assists against Burnley earlier this month.

Mousset struggled to get going at former club Bournemouth, but the French forward is starting to make a name for himself at Bramall Lane.
