Having clinched a third successive Premier League crown in 2022-23, Manchester City head into the new campaign as clear title favourites.

Can anyone prevent Pep Guardiola’s winning machine from dominating the division once again?

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Stadium: Etihad Stadium

Last Season: 1st

Not only have Man City won each of the last three Premier League titles, but they have also won five of the previous six.

With Erling Haaland leading the line, Guardiola’s side will be confident of defending their crown in 2023-24.

What Happened Last Season?

Manchester City achieved a famous treble last season, winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

As a result, the Cityzens emulated arch-rivals Manchester United’s achievements of 1998-99, making the success that little bit sweeter.

It looked as though Arsenal would snatch the Premier League title last term, but Man City finished the campaign in relentless form, winning 14 of their final 17 league matches to overtake the Gunners and secure a third consecutive top-flight crown.

Guardiola’s men also enjoyed an unbeaten Champions League campaign, notching eight wins and five draws on their way to lifting the trophy.

On top of that, Man City defeated Man Utd in the FA Cup final to cap a remarkable season.

Key Players

It goes without saying that Erling Haaland is City’s standout performer.

After all, the clinical Norwegian striker netted 52 goals in 53 games across all competitions last term, shattering numerous scoring records in the process.

The Cityzens have lost a couple of stalwarts this summer, with Ilkay Gundogan joining Barcelona and Riyad Mahrez moving to Al-Ahli.

However, the arrival of ex-Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic will soften the blow.

Ultimately, City’s squad is stacked with world-class stars in every department. From Ederson and Ruben Dias to Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, Guardiola has no shortage of top-quality players at his disposal.

What Can Manchester City Achieve in 2023-24?

If the previous campaign is anything to go by, Manchester City are on course to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet in 2023-24.

Of course, Gundogan and Mahrez will be missed, but City are well equipped to kick on.

Guardiola’s side finished five points clear of Arsenal last term, scoring 94 goals while conceding just 33.

Having also added the Champions League and FA Cup titles to their collection, City will be difficult to stop once again.
