On Saturday night (GMT), Gremio host Flamengo at the Arena do Gremio in the Brazilian Serie A as the home team look to pick up their first league win of the campaign.
Gremio kicked off the new Serie A season with a 3-2 defeat at Ceara. The defeat just continued a poor run of league form from last season, as they have now lost three of their last four games in the Brazilian top-flight.
A record of two wins in their last 12 outings in the Brazilian top-flight is not a great one either.
The home side has not fared very well on home soil of late in Serie A, as they have won just one of their last five matches.
However, before that poor recent run of home form Gremio had recorded eight straight home wins in the Brazilian top-flight. They have also been relatively prolific on their own patch, scoring at least two goals in ten of their last 13 home matches.
Flamengo started the new campaign with a 1-0 home win over Palmeiras. It was the visitor's third win in four league games stretching back to last season. They have also won six of their last eight matches in Serie A.
The visitors have a rather inconsistent recent away record in Serie A, having won just four of their last ten away games in the Brazilian top-flight.
Their final away games in the league last season were high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six matches on their travels.
Flamengo have very much had the edge over their opponents in recent meetings, as they are unbeaten in the last eight meetings in all competitions, having recorded six wins in the process.
Forebet predicts that Flamengo will make it two wins out of two in the league this season by recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
