Arsenal v Leicester could be a title decider
Arsenal’s high noon meeting with Leicester on Sunday could define this season’s Premier League title race. Some observers may suggest it is not a title decider, but it is the closest thing you will get to a title decider at this point of the campaign.
It’s an unimaginable situation that Leicester finds themselves in. The Foxes lead the table by five points with Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City playing catch-up. Claudio Ranieri’s men winning the league would be one of the greatest upsets in the history of football.
From rock-bottom top of the league in just over a year, it is Roy of the Rovers stuff. You could not write a better underdog script. Every weekend they seem to ruin people’s football predictions. They have completely upset the odds and it is hard to back against them continuing to upset the odds at Arsenal after last weekend’s 3-1 win at Manchester City.
The pressure is on the home side to show that they have the mental strength to be champions and hold their nerve. Already Arsene Wenger’s side have shown signs of mental weakness this season, despite the fact that this season could be their best chance of winning the title in a long time.
Arsenal are now third in the Premier League table on goal difference, but a win against Leicester would put them right back in the race for their Premier League title in 12 seasons. A win in the reverse fixture was just one of two defeats the Foxes have suffered this season in the top-flight.
This season has been incredibly unpredictable in the Premier League and anything could happen in this vital clash. Something tells me the result of this clash will have a big effect on the destination of the Premier League title in May.
