Wolfsburg to take the spoils against Stuttgart
2461

Sunday’s fixture between 5th placed Wolfsburg and 7th placed Stuttgart is another attractive and mouthwatering prospect in this weekend’s slate of fixtures in the Bundesliga with teams vying for a spot in the top four of the German top flight.

Along with the current leaders of the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen, Sunday’s hosts, Wolfsburg, are the only other side in the division yet to taste defeat in this season’s campaign as the home side have produced solid results both home and away to date.

The Volkswagen Arena though in particular has been a veritable fortress for Wolfsburg so far this term as the hosts not only remain unbeaten with four wins and two draws.

The hosts have also scored two goals or more in each of their last four matches at home which have all ended in victories.

Early back-to-back 0-0 stalemates with Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg were only the pre-cursor to Wolfsburg’s blossoming talent as the hosts have subsequently put together an impressive four-match winning streak with wins against Arminia Bielefeld 2-1, Hoffenheim 2-1, Werder Bremen 5-3 and Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1.

Stuttgart have also enjoyed a solid start to this new Bundesliga season as the visitors currently occupy 7th place and are just three points adrift of Sunday’s hosts, Wolfsburg, thanks to picking up two wins out of their last three matches in the German top flight.

Back-to-back wins against Werder Bremen and an emphatic 5-1 win at Borussia Dortmund saw Stuttgart get back on track after failing to win any of their preceding five league matches, while also picking up a point in last night’s 2-2 draw at home with Union Berlin.

This season has also seen a dramatic improvement in Stuttgart’s fortunes away from home too as the visitors bring a six-match unbeaten sequence into this clash at the Volkswagen Arena which includes wins on the road at Mainz, Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen and Dortmund.

However, all is not roses and rainbows for the visitors as Stuttgart have managed to keep just three clean sheets out of their last 22 away matches in the Bundesliga and they’ll be up against a free-scoring Wolfsburg outfit on Sunday who have not only found the back of the net on a regular basis, but have also been unbeaten in their previous 11 meetings at home against Stuttgart, winning nine of these encounters.
