Marseille the more likely winner at Nimes

The French top flight will also be in action on Friday night when it features the clash between lowly Nimes and high-flying Marseille at the Stade des Costières with Nimes looking to overcome their recent 3-0 mauling away at Monaco on the weekend.
Nimes have managed to pick up just three league wins to date in this season’s Ligue 1 campaign so far which have come in the shape of victories over Brest, Montpellier and Reims but seven defeats out of their total of 12 games to date have dumped Nimes down into a disappointing 16th place on the domestic top flight ladder.
Interestingly, two of Nimes’s three wins so far this term have been achieved away from home while at their Stade des Costières, the hosts have lost four of their last five matches while picking up just the one win.
Defeats against Rennes, PSG, Metz and Angers have prevented Nimes from lifting themselves up into the top half of Ligue 1 and they’ve also struggled in previous exchanges against Marseille as the visitors have won the last three meetings on the trot.
Marseille currently sit in 6th place and on the fringes of the top five prior to this Friday night clash at Nimes and confidence will be high amongst the Marseille camp as they’ve won their last four matches on the trot in Ligue 1.
Wins registered against Bordeaux, Lorient, Strasbourg and Nantes have helped thrust Marseille up into the upper echelons of the French top flight and they’ll be looking to continue their winning momentum at Nimes in order to break into the top five.
Overall results this season have been solid for Marseille who have suffered just the one defeat to date this term which was a 2-0 loss at home to Saint-Etienne but form and results away from home have been exemplary.
Marseille still remain unbeaten on their travels having won four of their five away matches which includes the notable 1-0 win in Paris against PSG while also keeping three clean sheets within these five away matches too.
Nimes have struggled at home while Marseille have proven they can pick up wins against the best on the road so the visitors look a decent prospect here as they look to extend their unbeaten start away from home.
