Tuesday’s Double-Header

Crystal Palace inflicted a fourth straight defeat on Bournemouth, despite having Mamadou Sakho sent off after just 19 minutes. Jeffery Schlupp scored the only goal of the game at Selhurst Park.

Manchester City hammered Burnley 4-1 thanks to a brace from Gabriel Jesus. Stunning strikes from Rodri and Riyad Mahrez sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s side, while Robbie Brady grabbed a late consolation goal for the Clarets.

Wednesday’s Games

Chelsea returned to winning ways by beating Aston Villa 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. Tammy Abraham opened the scoring against his old club, before Trezeguet levelled for Villa just before half-time. However, Mason Mount’s 48th minute volley handed the Blues all three points.

Jamie Vardy scored for a seventh consecutive Premier League game as Leicester eventually overcome Watford to claim their seventh straight victory. James Maddison added a second deep into added time – ensuring the Hornets remain bottom.

Back-to-back wins for Southampton have seen them climb out of the relegation zone. Danny Ings and Ryan Bertrand got on the scoresheet for Saints, while Teemu Pukki’s 65th minute effort wasn’t enough to inspire a Norwich comeback.

Wolves’ remarkable run was extended as they beat West Ham 2-0 at Molineux. Goals either side of half-time from Leander Dendoncker and Patrick Cutrone mean Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are now unbeaten in their last 10 top flight games.

Jose Mourinho endured an unhappy return to Old Trafford as Tottenham lost 2-1 to Manchester United. Man-of-the-match Marcus Rashford netted either side of a sublime Dele Alli effort to lift the Red Devils up to sixth.

Divock Origi was the hero again in the Merseyside derby. The Belgian’s brilliant double, along with goals from Xherdan Shaqiri, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, helped Liverpool to a memorable 5-2 victory. Michael Keane and Richarlison scored for the Toffees.

Thursday’s Action

Newcastle moved level on 19 points with Sheffield United following an impressive away win at Bramall Lane. Allan Saint-Maximin scored his first goal for the club, before Jonjo Shelvey sealed the win with his second goal in as many games.

Adam Webster and Neal Maupay scored either side of Alexandre Lacazette to give Brighton a well-deserved victory over Arsenal. The Seagulls dominated large spells of the game at the Emirates and move to within one point of the Gunners.
