Brighton set for a crucial win over Bournemouth

On Saturday afternoon, Brighton host Bournemouth at the AMEX Stadium, as the home side look to secure three crucial points in the fight for Premier League survival.

Brighton head into this clash five points clear of the relegation zone, with two games in hand on most of the teams around them. The Seagulls have suffered two straight top-flight defeats against Southampton and last time out Chelsea.

The home sides recent matches have been relatively high scoring with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six games in the Premier League.

Chris Hughton’s team have been poor on home soil of late, winning just one of their last five league matches at the AMEX, while suffering three defeats in the process.

The Seagulls recent home matches in the league have been tight affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven games. The fact, that the home side has scored just twice in five league matches at the AMEX has contributed to the low scoring encounters.

Bournemouth’s form has dipped woefully in recent months and looks set to cost the visitors a top-ten finish. The Cherries have won just once in their last nine Premier League games while suffering six defeats in the process. Last time out, Eddie Howe’s team suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Burnley.

The clash with the Clarets seen Bournemouth concede two or more goals for a third straight match in the English top-flight. The Cherries have been poor defensively all season, though, as only bottom two clubs Fulham and Huddersfield have conceded more top-flight goals than the visitors.

Bournemouth have a terrible recent record on their travels in the Premier League, losing ten of their last 11 matches away from home. Howe’s side has also conceded at least two goals in all ten defeats.

Forebet predicts that Brighton will record a victory in a low-scoring game to move further clear of the relegation zone.
