Preston North End and Leeds United to both score

Preston North End slumped to back-to-back defeats on the weekend when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to 2nd placed Sheffield United who are continuing their push for automatic promotion.
Defeat to Sheffield United followed a previous 2-1 defeat away at relegation threatened Reading, so Alex Neil’s side will no doubt be keen to return to winning ways and rekindle their earlier solid form which has lifted Preston North End up into the top half of the Championship and within striking distance of the play-off pack.
Overall form at their Deepdale ground has been pretty consistent for Preston who have lost just once in their last eight matches on home turf, and includes wins against Championship league leaders Norwich City and Birmingham City.
However, perhaps too many draws in recent times have held the hosts back as they’ve been involved in five stalemates within this eight match sequence, as they’ve been held to draws with Aston Villa, Swansea City, Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City - all solid results though, nonetheless.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that both teams have scored in 14 of Preston North End’s 20 home matches to date and indicates a possible susceptible defence for the hosts.
Leeds United were also handed what seemed an unlikely defeat away to Birmingham City in a 1-0 loss at St Andrews which meant the visitors missed out on an opportunity to regain second place as they trail Yorkshire rivals, Sheffield United by one point ahead of the midweek action in the Championship.
Inconsistent results have started to creep back in to Marcelo Bielsa’s side as they’ve lost two of their last three matches in the second tier with a narrow 1-0 loss to the aforementioned Sheffield United back in mid-March.
Leeds United have produced mixed results away from home too in recent weeks as they’ve recorded wins at Rotherham United, Bristol City and Reading but have also stumbled to defeats at Stoke City, QPR and Birmingham City, all of whom had previously been struggling for wins.
Leeds United know that all three points here would ramp up the pressure on Sheffield United, and as Preston have managed just two home wins from their last nine home matches, the visitors could take advantage here.
