Norwich City v QPR - Match Preview

The early kick-off on Saturday in the Championship features a lunchtime clash between league leaders Norwich City and bottom half outfit, QPR, with the hosts looking to feast upon their visitors defensive frailties at Carrow Road.

Norwich extended their impressive winning streak to seven matches last weekend when they recorded a 1-0 win away at Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium and this resulted in Norwich opening up a five point lead over 2nd placed Leeds United and a seven point margin over 3rd placed Sheffield United.

Norwich City now return to home turf this Saturday where they’ve won 13 of their 19 home matches to date and possess the third highest goal tally at home in the division having scored a total of 41 goals to date.

The hosts have won their last four home matches on the trot following victories against Ipswich Town, Bristol City, Swansea City and Hull City, while the goals have continued to flow; 13 of The Canaries’ 19 home matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals and with the likes of goalscoring midfielders Buendia and Vrancic (7 goals apiece) along with Stiepermann (6 goals) supporting Pukki (24 goals) and Rhodes (6 goals), Norwich could well score the required 3 goals by themselves.

QPR’s 2-1 defeat at home to relegation candidates Bolton Wanderers was the final straw for the London club’s board as they showed former manager, Steve McClaren, the door as the former England coach guided The R’s to just one win from their last 15 matches overall in the Championship.

Ironically, QPR’s one success during this woeful period of results was a 1-0 home win against automatic promotion candidates Leeds United, but since then, the visitors have slumped to five matches without a win which includes defeats to Brentford, Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers.

QPR have managed just four wins on their travels this season which perhaps is no surprise as the visitors have failed to score in 7 of their 19 away matches, as well as keeping just four clean sheets on the road too.

Having lost five of their last six matches on their travels, QPR look to be on a hiding to nothing at Carrow Road in this early kick-off and will do well to avoid a heavy defeat in East Anglia on Saturday.

Norwich City are on an impressive winning streak at the moment and should record a straightforward win here with the over 2.5 goals market being the most likely outcome in this clash.
