Leicester City to continue resurgence under Brendan Rodgers

Leicester City to continue resurgence under Brendan Rodgers
2726

Brendan Rodgers has turned Leicester City’s fortunes around. The Foxes have won three of their last four matches since Rodgers joined the club as manager.

Not only is Leicester winning, but their two biggest stars, Jamie Vardy and James Maddison, have suddenly found form.

Bournemouth have been highly inconsistent over their last six league games. The Cherries have recorded one win, two draws, and three losses. Bournemouth have conceded 12 goals while scoring six times.

Leicester City will be motivated to win as they are just three points off of seventh place. The Foxes could still make the Europa League for next season. However, they will need to finish seventh and hope Manchester City win the FA Cup.

Both clubs have potent attacks but it is the defensive ends that have let them down this term. Leicester City have scored 40 goals while allowing 43. Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s defence hasn’t been as good allowing 56 goals and recording a –13-goal difference.

Bournemouth have collected just 12 of their 38 points on the road. Away games have been the club’s Achille’s heel. Bournemouth have lost 11 times on their travels while posting a –20-goal difference. Five of their last six away fixtures have ended in losses. Those five defeats saw Bournemouth conceded 16 goals. Leicester will be licking their chops in front of goal.

Prior to Rodgers’ arrival, Leicester City were not great at home. The Foxes have won their last two matches at the King Power Stadium, however. Twenty of Leicester City’s 41 points have come from home matches. The club is putting personal tragedy and poor form behind them now. Europa League qualification would be proof of Leicester City’s resilience.

Leicester City will be without suspended centre-back Harry Maguire and injured midfielder Marc Albrighton. Bournemouth do not have any new injuries as both Simon Francis and Lewis Cook have been out long-term.

Vardy and Maddison are in great form with the latter notching four goals in his last three matches. Maddison scored in Leicester City’s 2-1 win over Burnley prior to the international break. Both players were not selected by Gareth Southgate, so they will be fresh for Saturday’s fixture against Bournemouth.

With Leicester City in-form and firing under Rodgers, they will pick up the win over Bournemouth at home. Leicester City’s last six matches have all ended in over 2.5 goals. Saturday’s game will see goals fly in as both defences struggle to corral opposing attackers.
