Real Betis to improve European spot chances with a win in Madrid
2874

On Sunday afternoon, struggling Rayo Vallecano host Real Betis at Estadio de Vallecas, in a game that could affect the relegation battle and the fight for La Liga’s European places.

Rayo Vallecano are 19th place in La Liga and looking set for relegation to the Segunda. The home side are six points adrift of safety after a horrendous run of seven straight league defeats. Last time out, they suffered a crucial 3-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Villarreal, which moved the 17th place Yellow Submarine six points clear of the home side.

A major cause of Vallecano’s current position in the table is poor defensive displays, as they have conceded at least two goals in six of their last seven league matches.

Their recent home performances have not helped their cause in La Liga either, as they have now failed to win in four home matches, suffering three straight defeats in the Spanish top-flight. Once again conceding too many goals has been an issue for Rayo Vallecano on home soil, as they have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five La Liga games on their travels.

Real Betis’ challenge for a European spot this season has suffered of late due to their inconsistency. A recent record of two wins, three defeats and a draw from their last six league games shows the level of Betis’s recent inconsistency. Last time out the Sevilla outfit suffered a 4-1 home defeat by Barcelona.

The visitors have won their last two away games against Real Valladolid and Celta Vigo after three straight defeats on their travels in the Spanish top-flight. Their recent away matches in La Liga have been relatively low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games.

Forebet predicts that Real Betis will record a victory in a low scoring game to aid their chances of landing a European spot this season.
