Leeds United suffered the double-whammy of losing their Yorkshire local derby against Sheffield United 1-0 at Elland Road prior to the international break as they were not only denied bragging rights but also an even more precious three points as Leeds look to bounce back and set their promotion campaign back on track here against Millwall.

Defeat to Sheffield United has resulted in them swapping places with The Blades as Leeds United now sit in 3rd place and are a point behind United and now five points adrift of Championship leaders, Norwich City ahead of this weekend’s action.

Leeds had looked like they’d got over their surprise 1-0 loss away at QPR when they posted three wins on the trot with victories over play-off hopefuls West Brom 4-0 and Bristol City 1-0 as well as taking care of relegation haunted Reading 3-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

The hosts now have to buckle down once more and make the most of their second home match on the trot against Millwall, and having won 8 of their last 11 at Elland Road, they should be able to take care of Millwall in this clash.

Millwall ended their dismal run of four defeats on the trot last time out when they upset the odds with a 2-0 win away at St Andrews against Birmingham City before the break, and The Lions will be grateful for that timely boost as they resume their battle against relegation.

Recent defeats to Preston North End, Hull City, Norwich City and Bolton Wanderers threatened to drop Millwall into the bottom three but the win at Birmingham City have now given Neil Harris’s side something to hold onto as they make the difficult trip to Elland Road on Saturday.

However, this will be an extremely difficult assignment for the London club as they’ve recorded only three away wins all season which have been gained at Ipswich Town, Derby County and the aforementioned Birmingham City.

Millwall have lost two of their three away matches against top six opposition to date which were at West Brom 2-0 and Norwich City 4-3 and have gained just one point thanks to a 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.

With trips to Leeds United, Sheffield United and Aston Villa coming up, this could be a very tough period for Millwall in their quest to avoid the drop.

Leeds United should bounce back with a win here.
