On Saturday night, Sampdoria host AC Milan at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris, in a game that could prove pivotal in the race for the European spots in Serie A.

Sampdoria have slightly fallen off the pace in the race for European qualification of late. However, the team from Genoa are only three points outside the Europa League spots, so will still believe they can secure European football for next season.

Inconsistent recent league form has not helped their chances of sealing a European spot this season. A record of four defeats and three wins from their last seven league outings illustrates their inconsistency of late.

Their recent Serie A game's have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five outings in the Italian top-flight, including a 5-3 win at Sassuolo last time out.

Samp have lost two of their last three home games in Serie A. However, they have kept four clean sheets in their last six Serie A games.

AC Milan are currently fourth in Serie A, occupying the last Champions League spot. The Rossoneri are four points clear of fifth place Roma and only two points behind rivals Inter, who are third in the table.

A 3-2 home defeat by arch-rivals Inter last time out ended a five-game winning run for the visitors in Serie A. The result means that five of their last six matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Milan have been hard to beat on their travels of late in the Italian top-flight, as the Rossoneri are unbeaten in eight matches, recording four wins and four draws. Gennaro Gattuso’s team have also scored at least two goals in three of their last four away matches in the Italian top-flight.

Forebet predicts that Milan will get back to winning ways securing a victory in a low scoring game to consolidate their top four spot.
