On Saturday afternoon, Barcelona host city rivals Espanyol at the Nou Camp, as the home side looks to move one step closer to retaining their La Liga title.

Reigning champions Barcelona are currently ten points clear at the top of the Spanish top-flight table. The Catalan giants have a formidable recent record in La Liga, as they are unbeaten in 16 league outings, having recorded 13 victories.

A 4-1 win at Real Betis last time out means that the home side has now recorded five straight victories in La Liga. The win also saw Barcelona score at least three goals for the third time in four league outings.

Ernesto Valverde’s team have won six of their last seven matches at the Nou Camp in La Liga. A key to that recent good home form has been their attacking prowess, as the home side has scored at least two goals in nine of their last ten matches on home soil.

Barcelona have won five of the last six league meetings with Espanyol while scoring at least three goals in all the victories.

Espanyol are currently 13th in La Liga, nine points clear of the relegation zone. The visitors have struggled for league wins of late, winning just two of their last ten La Liga outings. They have drawn too many league games of late, as three of their last five matches have finished all square.

A 1-0 home defeat against Sevilla last time out means that four of their last five La Liga games have produced over 2.5 goals.

Espanyol have failed to win in nine away games in La Liga. However, they have now drawn their last three away games in the Spanish top-flight.

Forebet predicts that Barcelona will record a sixth straight victory in a high scoring game to strengthen their position at the top of the table.
