Mid Table Battle at the London Stadium

The competition to finish as the top team outside the top six in the Premier League is beginning to heat up this season and two contenders meet at the London Stadium this weekend.

On Saturday 30th March West Ham United host Everton as both teams aim for a 7th place finish.

The hosts start the weekend in 9th place with 42 points from thirty-one games played.  A win could see them move into 7th place whereas Everton are currently in 11th place on 40 points having played them same number of matches.

West Ham come into this game having staged a remarkable comeback late in their previous match at home to Huddersfield Town. West Ham fought back from a losing position to win the game 4-3 but the overall performance still left something to be desired.

The Hammers have won three of their last ten games in all competitions and the three victories have come in their last five matches, all of which have been in the Premier League.  Trends show they are unbeaten in their last seven matches on home soil in all competitions and have won each of their last three at home in the Premier League.

West Ham have managed to score 2 or more goals in six of their last nine home Premier League games but have conceded in eleven of the last thirteen.

Everton produced one of their best performances of the season prior to the international break as they defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison Park. That result means Everton have lost one of their last four matches in the Premier League having held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at home and defeated Cardiff City 3-0 away.

However, away form is not great and Everton have managed to avoid defeat only twice in their last seven away games in all competitions.  Both times they avoided defeat, the Toffees won and picked up 3 points at Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City.

Everton have scored at least once in five of their last six away games in all competitions but have just two clean sheets in their last nine on the road in the Premier League.

Team news and West Ham are still without Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll who are injured.  Winston Reid is working his way back to full fitness but is not expected to play a part.

Everton are without Leighton Baines and have doubts over Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, Phil Jagielka and Yerry Mina.  Central defender Kurt Zouma is expected to return having missed out against his parent club Chelsea before the internationals.

Everton have not been consistent enough away from home to suggest backing them to get anything from this game. West Ham have a strong recent home record and will be confident of taking maximum points.
