Iceland to end poor run in Andorra

On Friday night, Iceland will look to end a woeful run of form as they travel to face minnows Andorra in their opening game of Euro 2020 qualifying.
Andorra are true minnows of the international game but will be looking to improve on a poor recent record. The home side has failed to win in their last eight matches, but have at least managed draws against Georgia and Latvia in their previous two outings.
Just one victory in their last 14 international matches is not a great record. However, the visit of the out of form Iceland gives the home side hope of ending that winless run.
Andorra have failed to win in seven home matches, but have drawn their last four on home soil, so they have been hard to beat on their own patch of late.
Their recent home games have followed a low-scoring trend, with their last nine matches producing under 2.5 goals. The fact that Andorra have failed to score in five of their last seven matches on home soil has massively contributed to those low-scoring encounters.
Iceland produced some incredible performances at Euro 2016 and also qualified for their first ever World Cup in 2018. However, the Nordic nation’s form has slipped since Euro 2016 and their recent record is poor.
In fact, the visitors have now failed to win in 17 official international matches. The run is highly surprising considering their strong displays in recent years. However, Iceland have drawn their last three games, with signs of improvement in those matches.
One factor in that recent poor run of form is that Iceland have conceded at least two goals in nine of their last ten international games.
