Hull City v Millwall - Match Preview

Hull City v Millwall - Match Preview

Hull City stumbled to a third league defeat in five matches on Saturday in the Championship when they were handed a heavy 5-1 defeat away at Brentford and that loss made it three defeats on the bounce away from home for The Tigers.

Hull will no doubt therefore be relieved to be returning to their KCOM Stadium for Tuesday night’s clash with lowly Millwall who are still not yet safe from being involved in the relegation battle towards the bottom of the Championship.

Despite Hull’s problems away from home, Tuesday night’s hosts will be fairly confident they can bounce back on home turf here as their form in their own backyard has continued in its impressive vein as Hull are unbeaten in their last seven matches, a run that includes six straight wins.

Hull’s home record stands at  W7 D4 L5 scored 25 conceded 15 as they’ve swept aside the likes of Brentford 2-0, Swansea City 3-2, Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 and Stoke City 2-0 as well as a 6-0 romp over hapless Bolton Wanderers.

Hull manager, Nigel Adkins, probably won’t win any accolades but nevertheless, he deserves credit for turning around this Hull City outfit who were on their knees after former manager, Leonid Slutsky, left the club last season.

Millwall found themselves on the end of a heavy 3-1 defeat at home to in-form side, Preston North End on Saturday afternoon at the New Den, which means The Lions have won just once in their last seven matches in the Championship, that being a seemingly unlikely 1-0 win at Derby County.

The London club have managed to do just the bare minimum inn recent weeks in order to keep their heads above water as they’ve picked up points in draws with Middlesbrough, Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday along with the win over Derby, although it’s just as well the likes of Reading, Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers have performed worse in recent weeks.

Millwall’s results away from home have been a bit of a mixed bag as they’ve picked up important wins at Ipswich Town and Derby County, but have also lost at Stoke City and Swansea City, so it’s sometimes difficult to determine which Millwall side are going to turn up.

However, an away record that reads a poor  W2 D4 L10 scored 15, conceded 27 shouldn’t cause a solid home outfit such as Hull City too many problems here.

Hull City look in good shape to bounce back from their defeat on the weekend here.
