The Premier League will see one midweek fixture as Manchester City travel to Goodison Park to battle Everton. After Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against West Ham on Monday night, Manchester City can take over top spot in the Premier League with a win.

Pep Guardiola’s side is +46 in goal difference compared to Liverpool’s +41. The Reds are slipping as Manchester City are picking up wins.

The good news for Everton manager Marco Silva is his side is capable of defeating Manchester City. However, the Toffees have been incredibly inconsistent as they have lost four of their last six matches. Their most recent loss came at Goodison Park as Wolverhampton Wanderers ran out 3-1 winners. Despite the home loss, Everton have recorded the eighth best home record with 21 of 39 possible points earned.

Everton supporters are not happy with Silva as the team’s manager. The high expectations and results have not been achieved. The club is currently ninth which is the same position it was in after 25 games a season ago. Despite money being splashed to sign players in the summer such as Richarlison, the team lacks a proven No. 9 to score goals. Richarlison and midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson have combined for 19 goals. However, the next best goal scorer is Dominic Calvert-Lewin with four.

Guardiola’s team lost in their last way fixture at St. James’ Park. The Cityzens took an early lead but began to fall apart after a Sergio Aguero goal was called back due to the preceding free-kick being taken too soon. Manchester City unraveled and allowed Newcastle two goals, losing 2-1.

Manchester City have lost to Everton just once in their last six meetings. That loss came in January 2017 as the Toffees shocked Manchester City 4-0 at Goodison. The Cityzens have won three of their last six games with two ending in draws. There is a chance Everton could take a point, however, Manchester City smell blood following Liverpool’s back to back draws.

The last six matches between Everton and Manchester City have all seen 2.0 goals or more scored. Four of the fixtures have had over 2.5 goals scored. Wednesday night’s match will see goals just like the previous games between the teams. Neither side has anything to lose and over 2.5 goals will once again be tallied.

Manchester City will step up to the pressure on Wednesday night and pick up all three points. While they rise to the pressure, Silva and Everton will sink. Based on the teams’ last six matches, expect over 2.5 goals as the Cityzens reclaim first place.
