Brighton to end losing streak against Fulham

The good news for Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri is the team has been much better at home than on the road this term. Twelve of Fulham’s 14 points have been secured at Craven Cottage. Since Ranieri took over the club, Fulham have been much more difficult to beat. In their last six home matches, Fulham have lost just twice.

Brighton have lost four of their last six away games. Just eight of their 26 points this term have come on the road. Despite being poor away from the AMEX Stadium this term, Brighton are undefeated in five of their last six games against Fulham.

The two clubs drew 2-2 when they met earlier this season. Prior to that draw, Brighton had defeated Fulham in four Championship matches. Fulham’s lone win over Brighton came in a 2016 friendly.

Games between Fulham and Brighton yield goals. There have been over 2.5 goals in their last six matches in all competitions. Tuesday night’s game should see goals fly into the back of the net once more. Fulham have allowed 51 goals this term, the most in the Premier League, while Brighton have conceded 32.

Ranieri will be without injured defender Alfie Mawson and midfielder Frank Zambo Anguissa. It looks likely that he will start former Liverpool striker Ryan Babel. The Dutchman looked lively in his first appearance with the club. Babel could be the goalscoring spark Fulham needs.

Hughton has his own personnel worries as Jose Izquierdo is injured. Meanwhile, Alireza Jahanbakhsh is on international duty with Iran. Brighton could welcome back goalkeeper Mat Ryan as Australia were eliminated from the Asian Cup.

Tuesday’s match is a must-win for Fulham. They have everything to play for, which will hurt the club in the end. Brighton have the ability to play looser and there is room to make mistakes without it costing them a loss. The match will see over 2.5 goals as these teams have shown they have difficulty defending. Brighton will pick up all three points as Fulham’s defence remains the worst in the division.
