Reigning La Liga champions Barcelona are in top form in the Spanish top-flight heading into Sunday afternoon’s trip to midtable Girona.

The home side have enjoyed a steady campaign in La Liga so far. However, the 12th place home side will be wary of slipping closer to the relegation zone, as they are currently just four points above the drop zone in the top-flight.

However, if Girona record a victory and results go there way over the weekend then they could move into the top half of the Spanish top-flight table.

Girona have struggled to pick up points of late in La Liga, as they failed to win in their last seven games in the Spanish top-flight. Last time out in La Liga, they suffered a 3-2 defeat at Real Betis.

The home side has won just one of their last seven home matches in the Spanish top-flight. However, they are unbeaten in five matches at Estadi Municipal de Montilivi in the league, as they have drawn their last four games on home soil.

Barcelona suffered a midweek 2-0 defeat at Sevilla in the Copa del Rey. However, the reigning champions have been ultra-consistent in La Liga of late, winning their last seven league games. Last time out in La Liga, Barcelona recorded a 3-1 win over Leganes. The result means that the visitors have now scored at least two goals in all seven matches of their winning run.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are unbeaten in six away games in the Spanish top-flight, while winning four of their last five matches on their travels. The visitors have been prolific in away matches in recent La Liga matches, scoring at least twice in four of their last five away games.

Forebet predicts that Barcelona will record a victory in high scoring game to maintain their five-point lead at the top of La Liga.
