Porto to continue stellar league run at Aves

On Thursday night, Aves host Primeira Liga leaders Porto, in a big game at both ends of the Portuguese top-flight table.

Aves have made a poor start to their league campaign this season. The home side are third from bottom of the table, courtesy of an inferior goal difference to 15th place Maritimo.

A four-game winless run in the league, comprising of three defeats and a draw has not helped the home sides cause of late. Last time out Aves suffered a 5-2 defeat at Belenenses.

The game followed a familiar trend for recent Aves games in that it was high scoring, as six of their last seven league games have produced over 2.5 goals. Both teams have also scored in Aves’ last seven Primeira Liga games.

Aves recent home form has not helped their position in the table, as they have taken just one win from their last four league games on home soil. Once again, their home games have been relatively high scoring of late, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five matches.

Porto are currently four points clear of second place Benfica at the top of the Portuguese top-flight table. The leaders have won their last seven league games since a 1-0 defeat in Lisbon against the Eagles back in October.

Porto’s recent matches in the Portuguese top-flight have been relatively low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last ten matches.

The visitor’s recent away form has been good in the Primeira Liga, as they have won eight of their last nine games on their travels, with the aforementioned defeat in the capital the only blot on their copybook.

Forebet predicts that Porto will continue their recent good form in the Primeira Liga by recording a victory in a high scoring encounter.
