Leicester City to end winless streak
Crystal Palace host Leicester City on Saturday with both Premier League teams suffering losses last weekend. The Eagles are just two points above the relegation zone and are in desperate need of a win. Meanwhile, Leicester are midtable and a win would push them closer to the top six and European qualification places.
Leicester have won twice in their last six matches. However, two times during that run, including last weekend against Tottenham, the Foxes were held without a goal. Leicester have scored goals this term, but their biggest issue has been conceding them. Leicester have posted a +1-goal difference.
They have been outstanding away from home posting the seventh best points total with 11 out of 24 possible. Claude Puel’s side has conceded 12 goals away from home scoring just 11 times.
Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace have lost four out of their last six games and won just once during that stretch. The Eagles have been lacklustre in front of goal scoring just 13 times. It is the second worst goals return this season in the Premier League. Crystal Palace have posted a –10-goal difference. Selhurst Park has typically been a fortress for Crystal Palace, however, this season they have shown nothing but relegation form at home. Hodgson’s team has collected a mere five points at home while conceding eight goals.
Leicester City have just edged the last six matches between the two clubs. The Foxes have won three and drawn once against Crystal Palace in their last six Premier League meetings. Crystal Palace have won twice during that time span.
Their last four matches have seen goals galore with over 2.5 goals scored in each match. In addition, the last two games between Crystal Palace and Leicester has seen one of Puel’s players sent off.
Despite goals flying into the net in the clubs’ last four games, Crystal Palace’s games haven’t seen many scores this term. There have been fewer than 2.5 goals scored in seven of Crystal Palace's last eight league home games.
Leicester will make late fitness decisions on key player Ben Chilwell ahead of the match. The full-back is struggling with an injury and Puel will wait until the last minute to make a selection decision. Chilwell has been brilliant for Leicester and his loss will be a big blow for the Foxes. Puel has received an injury boast with centre-back Harry Maguire and striker Jamie Vardy back in training. Both could be selected for Saturday’s fixture.
The Foxes have played well away from home and will keep their form up at Selhurst Park. Leicester have played well against teams below them in the table and will pick up another big win on Saturday.
