Watford set to end winless run against Cardiff City

Watford set to end winless run against Cardiff City

After a good start to their Premier League campaign, Watford’s form has dipped of late and the Hornets are now six games without a win. Javi Gracia’s side will look to put that right when they welcome Cardiff to Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets were slightly unlucky not to end their winless run at Everton last time out when the Toffees snatched a stoppage-time equaliser to draw 2-2.

The home side has played Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton in their last four matches, all teams currently occupying top seven spots in the table, which has contributed to their winless run.

Javi Gracia’s side needs to tighten up in defence if they are to get back to winning ways, as they have conceded at least two goals in their last four league outings.

Rather unusually for Watford, their recent league form at Vicarage Road has been poor, as the Hornets have lost four of their last five home matches on home soil. Once again conceding too many goals has been at the heart of their struggles, as they have conceded at least two goals in all four of those aforementioned home defeats.

Cardiff are currently 14th place in the Premier League table after an inconsistent run of form. Last time out the Bluebirds recorded a 1-0 win over Southampton.

The Welsh side has been in decent form of late on home soil, but away from home, it is a completely different story. In fact, Neil Warnock’s team have lost six of their seven away games in the top-flight this season.

The Bluebirds have also won just one of their last 23 away games in the Premier League dating back to their previous spell in the top-flight in season 2013/14. A lack of goals has been one of the biggest factors in their recent poor away form, as City have scored just three goals in their seven away matches in top-flight this season.

Forebet predicts that Watford will end their recent winless run in the top-flight by recording a victory in a high scoring match.
