This week’s Saturday evening fixture takes us to West Yorkshire as Huddersfield who are still looking for their first win of the Premier League season play host to a side that have yet to taste defeat in their first eight matches of the campaign.

That unbeaten opposition comes in the shape of Liveprool who went into the international break as one of a trio of teams who are joint top of the table. Although that said it could have been a different scenario had recent events at Anfield gone against them.

That’s because they were up against Manchester City in what many were pegging as the clash of the season so far, unfortunately though it failed to live to the hype as the two sides played out what can only be described as a bore draw.

A point that both teams will likely be happy with on the balance of play, however Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly be ruing his luck after Riyad Mahrez blazed a second half spot kick over the bar.

That miss meant Liverpool came out of the titanic title clash unscathed as they look to return to winning ways against Huddersfield this weekend, especially as they have drawn their last two league outings.

But those draws have come against Chelsea and the aforementioned Manchester City, the two other teams that currently sit joint top of the table with Liverpool. Therefore, in the landscape in the race for the title they are not the worst results in the world.

A draw was also much welcomed by Huddersfield in their last league outing. The Terriers picked up a hard earned point away at Burnley, one that saw them earn just their third of this current Premier League season.

It looks as if David Wagner’s men are in the midst of ‘second season syndrome’ right now, especially as the side that stayed up at the first time of asking now find themselves with only Newcastle and Cardiff having worst records at present.

The concern for everyone connected with Huddersfield is the fact that the goals have seemingly dried up, however it must be said that this is an issue that first reared its ugly head at the tail end of the previous campaign.

Thankfully then they had enough points in the bank from their early endeavours to just about coast to safety – although one should not forget they also earned impressive results away at both Chelsea and Manchester City which played a huge role in their survival.

This time around the impressive start has been notwithstanding and not will only make the job harder for Huddersfield as they look to fight off the very apparent threat of relegation, one that is not going to be any easier when facing Liverpool on Saturday.

Liverpool won here at a relative canter when they met here last season, even if Mohamed Salah is out missing through injury they have more than enough firepower at their disposal to pick up all three points this weekend.
