Malaga to continue decent start to Spanish Segunda campaign
On Friday night, Malaga host Albacete in the Spanish Segunda, as the home side look to continue a bright start to life back in the second tier.
This season is the Andalucian’s first in the Spanish Segunda in a decade after relegation from La Liga last season. La Albiceleste’s have made a steady start to their campaign and currently top the table under Juan Muniz.
The Andalucian’s have won six of their eight league games so far this season, suffering just one defeat in the process. Last time out Muniz’s team drew 1-1 at Deportivo La Coruna.
La Rosaleda has been a fortress for Malaga this season, as they have won all four of their home games in La Liga, while also keeping clean sheets in all four victories. The home side’s good defensive record has contributed to three of their four home games this season producing under 2.5 goals.
Albacete have enjoyed a mixed start to their La Liga campaign. The visitors are currently seventh place in La Liga, just a point outside the play-off spots though.
A 1-0 defeat at Real Oviedo last time out ended a nine-game unbeaten run for the visitors in the Spanish Segunda. The result also meant that for the first time in five Albacete Segunda games that both teams had not scored.
The defeat in Oviedo was Albacete’s first away defeat in five games in the Spanish second tier. It was also the first time in nine Albacete away games in the league that both teams did not score.
The visitor’s recent away games in the Spanish second tier have been relatively high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last eight outings.
