Denmark to record narrow win in Ireland

On Saturday night, the Republic of Ireland host Denmark in the UEFA Nations League B, as the home side look for their first victory in Group 4.

The two teams enjoyed contrasting fortunes in their opening Group 4 games. Ireland suffered a 4-1 loss in Wales, as Denmark recorded a 2-1 home win against the Dragons.

These two teams have met just four times in recent history, with Denmark winning just one of the meetings. However, the win came in a 5-1 victory last November in a World Cup qualifier.

Ireland have a poor recent record in the international game, having won just once in their last seven outings. Martin O’Neill’s side has also suffered four defeats in their last six games. Last time out the Green Army drew 1-1 with Poland.

The Republic’s recent games have been low scoring, as there have been under 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last 11 games.

The home side’s recent home record has been patchy of late, as O’Neill’s side have won just three of their last eight games on home soil. Their recent home matches have also been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last nine games on home soil.

Denmark ended a four-game run without a victory last time out by beating Wales 2-0. The Scandinavian team have now suffered just one defeat in 18 official international games in 90 minutes. That defeat was against Slovakia when the Danes fielded a team of amateurs, due to a dispute.

The visitor’s recent games have been low scoring, as nine of their last ten international matches have produced under 2.5 goals.

The aforementioned defeat in Slovakia is their only away loss in eight official international matches. The visitors previous away defeat was two years ago in Poland in a World Cup qualifier.

Forebet predicts that Denmark will record a narrow away win in a high scoring encounter to make it two wins out of two games in the UEFA Nations League.
