Slovakia to pick up maiden Nations League victory

On Saturday afternoon, Slovakia host neighbours the Czech Republic in the Nations League B, as the pair look to make up ground on Group 1 leaders Ukraine.
Both teams kicked off their UEFA Nations League’s campaigns by suffering defeats against Ukraine, as Slovakia suffered a 1-0 loss to the leaders, while the Czech Republic suffered a 2-1 defeat.
Following the losing start, both teams will be confident of picking up their first-ever victories in the newly established competition.
Slovakia’s recent form has been highly inconsistent, with one win from their last four outings. Their last outing was that defeat against Ukraine.
The home side’s recent games have been relatively high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last nine matches.
Slovakia have a strong recent record on home soil, as they are unbeaten in seven matches, winning six times in the process. The home side also has a good recent defensive record on home soil, keeping clean sheets in six of their last seven games on home soil.
Slovakia won the last meeting between these two teams in 2015, coming out on top in 1-0 friendly victory.
The Czech Republic have been poor of late, losing four of their last six international outings. To make matters worse the visitors have also conceded at least two goals in all of those aforementioned defeats. Last time out, the Czechs suffered a 5-1 friendly defeat in Russia.
The visitors also have a patchy away record of late, losing three and winning two of their last five games on their travels. The Czech Republic’s latest away games have been relatively high scoring with five of their last eight matches producing over 2.5 goals.
