There are several matches which catch the attention during the La Liga season in Spain, one of which is the meeting between Sevilla and Real Madrid.  The teams have been involved in some very high scoring games over the years and another great game is in prospect on Wednesday night.

Sevilla host Real Madrid at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and the atmosphere is sure to be electric inside one of the best venues in La Liga.

Sevilla come into the match on the back of an extraordinary 6-2 win at Levante on the weekend. Having lost their previous two La Liga games, one of which was to local rivals Real Betis, Sevilla opened the scoring only to concede an immediate equaliser.

Things got better as the match developed and by the 60th minute, Sevilla had scored 6 goals, with Wissam Ben Yedder bagging a hattrick.  It was Sevilla’s biggest win of the season to date and will give them plenty of confidence ahead of this big game.

Sevilla have won just two of their five matches in La Liga this season but trends show they are strong at home, winning seven of their last nine games in all competitions.  Sevilla have lost six of their last thirty home matches in all competitions and are scoring an average of 2.17 goals in home all competitive games this season.

Real Madrid begin this round of mid-week fixtures sitting in second place in La Liga. They are level on points with leaders Barcelona, having won four and drawn one of their five league games this season.

It has been a decent start to life under Julen Lopetegui and Real Madrid were made to work for a narrow 1-0 home win over Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu on the weekend.  Marco Asensio scored the only goal of the game after 41 minutes.

Real Madrid have played just two away matches this season, defeating Girona 4-1 and being held to a 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao.  The goals conceded in those two games are the only goals Real Madrid have conceded in the league this season.

Trends show Real Madrid have lost only two of their last twenty-five La Liga games and both teams have scored in each of their last seven.

Looking ahead to the team news and Sevilla will be without four players.  Sergio Escudero, Gabriel Mercado, Maxime Gonalons and Ibrahim Amadou are all on the treatment table.  Wissam Ben Yedder is expected to continue up-front.

Real Madrid have doubts over Daniel Carvajal but the Spanish international should be fit to start at right-back.  Every other player is available and Real Madrid will have the newly crowned FIFA Player of the Year, Luka Modric in their midfield.

Real Madrid have found it difficult at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, losing on their last three visits.  However, they have started the season strongly and look good at the back.  While they may concede a goal in this game, Real Madrid have enough to keep things tighter than previous visits and win the match.
