On Sunday afternoon, Villarreal host Valencia at the Estadio de la Ceramica, as both teams look to kick-start their campaigns in the Spanish top-flight.

Villarreal have made a relatively poor start to their La Liga campaign, winning just one of their four league outings so far. Last time out the Yellow Submarine recorded a 1-0 win at Leganes, which ended a four-game winless run in the league dating back to last season.

The home side’s recent outings in the Spanish top-flight have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last three La Liga outings.

Villarreal’s home record in La Liga has been patchy, but they have failed to win in their last three games, losing their last two games against Real Sociedad and Girona. In fact, Villarreal’s last home win in La Liga was against Valencia in May.

The home side previously had a reputation for having a solid defence. However, the Yellow Submarine have only kept just one clean sheet in nine La Liga games at the Estadio de La Ceramica.

Valencia have made a poor start to their La Liga campaign, failing to win any of their four games in the Spanish top-flight this season. A record of just two wins in 11 La Liga matches dating back to last season is not a great one.

Los Ches recent La Liga games have been low scoring with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine outings.

The visitors have a mixed recent record on their travels in La Liga. However, Los Ches have found it hard to win on the road of late claiming just one win from six games on their travels in the Spanish top-flight.

Forebet predicts that Villarreal will improve their record slightly in La Liga this season by recording a victory in a high scoring encounter.
