Sevilla to get the better of Standard Liege

On Thursday evening, Sevilla kick-off their Europa League campaign by hosting Standard Liege at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sevilla needed to beat Zalgiris and Sigma Olomouc to make it to the group stages of the competition. The Andalucian’s have a good recent record in the Europa League, having won their last eight games in the competition.

The Andalucian side has been prolific in the Europa League, scoring at least two goals in seven of their last nine outings. The home sides attacking prowess has contributed to over 2.5 goals being scored in seven of their last nine outings in Europe’s secondary competition.

The home side are unbeaten in 17 home games in the Europa League, recording 15 matches in the process. The Andalucian side has also kept clean sheets in their last three away games in the Europa League while scoring at least two goals in three of their last four outings on home soil.

Standard Liege dropped down from the Champions League qualifying rounds. The Belgian side has a mixed recent record in the Europa League, having won just once in their last six outings.

Both teams have scored in five of their last seven outings in the Europa League, including their last two matches.

Liege have a poor recent away record in the Europa League. However, they have won just two of their last 11 outings on their travels in Europe’s secondary competition. They have also lost seven of their last ten Europa League games on the road.

Standard’s recent away games in the Europa League have also been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six games.

Forebet predicts that Sevilla’s stellar recent record in the Europa League will continue with the Andalucian’s recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
