Citizens to record narrow win over Lyon

On Wednesday night, Manchester City kick-off their Champions League by hosting French side Lyon at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City are regarded as a force in English and European football. However, the Citizens have lost four of their last five games in Europe’s elite competition, including losing both legs of their quarter-final clashes with Liverpool last season.

City’s games are usually goal-filled and their recent Champions league games have been no different, with over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight games in the competition.

A part of those high scoring games of late is that Pep Guardiola’s side has conceded at least two goals in four of their last five Champions League games.

City have lost their last two home games in this competition. However, the Citizens have won 11 of their last 16 games on home soil in the Champions league. The home side’s recent games on home soil in the Champions League have been relatively high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six games.

Lyon have made a mixed start to their domestic campaign and the visitors Champions league form has also been inconsistent.

OL are unbeaten in their last three Champions League games but have won just three games in their last 14 outings in Europe’s elite competition. The French side’s recent matches in Europe’s elite competition, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven games, including the last five matches.

Lyon’s recent away record in the Champions league is inconsistent. However, a record of two away wins in their last seven games on their travels is not exactly a great one. The visitor’s latest away games in the competition have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last nine outings.

Forebet predicts that City will get back to winning ways in the competition by recording a victory in a high scoring encounter.
