European champions Real Madrid have kicked off their quest for the Spanish top-flight title in a positive fashion. However, Los Blancos face a difficult challenge on Saturday night, as Julen Lopetegui’s side visit the Basque country to face Athletic Bilbao.

Athletic have started their La Liga campaign by picking up four points from their two league outings, beating Leganes before a disappointing 2-2 draw with newly promoted Huesca.

The home side’s most recent La Liga games have been high scoring dating back to last season, with seven of their last ten games producing 2.5 goals.

Athletic have a patchy recent home record in the Spanish top-flight. However, a record of just three defeats in their last 16 home outings in La Liga suggests they are difficult to beat on their own patch.

The home side has been relatively prolific on home soil in La Liga, as Athletic have scored at least twice in five of their last eight outings.

Real Madrid finished last season in good form and that positive momentum has continued into this season. In fact, Los Blancos have a perfect record of three wins out of three La Liga games under new head coach Julen Lopetegui.

Los Blancos have been highly prolific of late in the Spanish top-flight, scoring at least twice in their last eight La Liga games.

The team from the Spanish capital have struggled for victories on their travels of late, claiming one win from their last four games on the road in La Liga.

One positive aspect for the visitors on their travels is that they have remained prolific, scoring at least twice in 12 of their last 13 away games in the league, including their last seven games on their travels.

Forebet predicts that this game will produce a goal-filled game with the visitors recording a victory.
