Sevilla set to cruise to victory over Sigma Olomouc
On Thursday night, Sigma Olomouc host Sevilla in the Europa League play-off first leg, as both sides look to move closer to booking their place in the group stages of the competition.
Sigma Olomouc recorded a comfortable 4-1 aggregate win over Kazakhstani side Kairat in the last round of the Europa League. The Czech side has a decent record in the competition, although they are back in the Europa League this season after a nine-year absence.
The home side has lost just once in their last eight games in the competition. The single defeat came at the hands of Premier League Everton back in 2009. The Czech outfit have also won five of those aforementioned eight games in the competition.
Sigma Olomouc also has a decent home record in Europe’s secondary competition, as they have lost just one of their eight home games, recording five wins in the process. Their recent home games have been relatively low scoring on home soil, though, as three of the last four matches have produced under 2.5 goals.
Sevilla have a great history in the Europa League. In fact, nobody has won the competition more times than the visitor’s five times. The Andalusian side are one of only two teams to retain the trophy. The Spanish side are in a different league to their Czech opponents.
The visitors have won their previous six games in the Europa League while remaining unbeaten in seven games in the competition. Their recent games in the Europa League have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in nine of their last ten outings.
The Spanish side are also unbeaten in six games on their travels in this competition, having recorded four wins in the process.
Forebet predicts that Sevilla will record a comfortable victory in a high scoring game to move a step closer to the group stages of the competition.
