Ajax set to record a victory over Sturm Graz

On Wednesday night, Sturm Graz and Ajax go head-to-head in the Champions League second round qualifying second leg.

The first leg of this tie saw the Dutch side win 2-0 in the Johan Cruyff Arena. After establishing a first leg lead, the visitors will be confident of making it through to the next round.

Sturm Graz have a poor recent record in Europe’s elite competition, having won just one of their last six games in the competition dating back to 2011. Prior to the first leg, 2011 was the last season in which the Austrian side participated in the Champions league. The home side has now lost their last two games in the competition.

The visitors are unbeaten in the Champions League in three games, though. Although Ajax’s recent games have not been high scoring, eight of their last nine games in the competition have seen both teams score.

The Dutch side has struggled for victories on their travels of late, having won just one of their last 14 away games in the Champions league. The visitor’s away games in the competition have also been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six outings.
