On Sunday night, one of the favourites for the World Cup Brazil kick-off their campaign with a Group E clash with Switzerland.

Brazil finished their qualifying campaign in strong fashion following the appointment of the shrewd Tite as head coach. The Selecao were the first team to qualify for Russia 2018.

The South American giants have a highly talented group. However, they will be looking to make amends for a humiliating 7-1 defeat against Germany on home soil at the semi-finals stage four years ago.

The Selecao also suffered a 3-0 defeat against the Netherlands in the third-place play-off. Tite’s team look far better prepared to lift the trophy this time around.

They head into World Cup 2018 in good form having won six of their last seven games. A key factor in those recent wins has been the Selecao’s sold defensive displays, as Tite’s side have kept clean sheets in their last five games while conceding just one goal in their last seven matches.

At the other end of the pitch, Brazil have scored two or more goals in three of their last four outings.

Switzerland were impressive in qualifying, recording nine wins in their ten games. Only a final game defeat by Portugal prevented the Swiss looking an automatic place in Russia. Instead, Vladimir Petkovic’s side qualified by beating Northern Ireland 1-0 on aggregate in a play-off.

They head into this summer’s tournament on the back of a run of just one defeat in their last 21 outings. The Swiss are currently also on an unbeaten run of six games, having recorded four wins in the process.

Petkovic’s side has been strong defensively of late, keeping clean sheets in five of their last six outings. The lively Brazilian attack is sure to test out that stellar record.

Despite impressive recent results from Switzerland, Forebet predicts that Brazil will record a comfortable win in a high scoring encounter.
