America Searching for Upset in Serie A

There is a full program of Brazilian Serie A fixtures to look forward to this week and on Thursday we have a meeting between Corinthians and America MG at the Arena Corinthians, Sao Paulo.
Corinthians start the week in 6th place, which would give them a Copa Libertadores qualifying position. However, there is a long way still to go this season and with just 3 points between them and first place Flamengo, Corinthians know a win in this match could improve their Serie A position significantly.
America MG were promoted last season and will be looking forward to testing themselves against the defending champions. They come into this game sitting in 11th place, just 1 point adrift of Corinthians and even a point from this game would be seen as a good result.
Corinthians come into this match having lost 2-1 at Internacional last week and trends show they have failed to win their last three matches in all competitions. Last week, manager Fabio Carille decided to leave the club and they have lost both their matches since, with the other defeat coming at home against Millonarios in the Copa Libertadores.
However, Corinthians will point towards their home form in Brasilian Serie A and they are undefeated in their last 10 home league games. They have won five of their last seven on home soil in Serie A, including recent wins over Fluminense and Palmeiras.
Both teams have scored in four of their last five home Brasilian Serie A matches.
America MG will be pleased with the start they have made to life in Serie A this season and come into this match having won three of their seven games.
However, trends show they have been struggling of late and have picked up just one win in their last four league matches. Following promotion, America MG have played three away games in Brasilian Serie A and picked up just a single point which came in a 2-2 draw at 19th place Ceara last time out. Both previous away matches ended in defeat, with a 2-0 loss at Flamengo and 4-1 reverse at Vasco Da Gama.
Both teams have scored in four of their last five games and America MG have conceded 2 or more goals in four of their last six matches.
Team news and Corinthians are missing goalkeeper Cassio and right back Fagner, who are away with the national team. Midfielder Maycon is suspended and there are fitness doubts over Ralf, Rene Junior and Clayson.
America MG travel without injured midfielder Christian Savio but have every other player available for this match.
Osmar Loss is still searching for his first win as Corinthians manager and this may be the match where it happens. Corinthians have a good recent home record while America MG are still searching for their first away win this season. Corinthians to win and both teams to score looks a good option.
