Huesca set to seal La Liga spot for next season

Huesca set to seal La Liga spot for next season

On Monday night, Lugo host Huesca in the Spanish Segunda, as the visitors look for the win that would seal promotion to La Liga.

The visitors could be about to make history, as they have never before played in Spain’s top-flight. In fact, they would be the smallest club ever to make it to La Liga.

Rubi’s side have been highly consistent in the Segunda this season and a win would seal their spot in the Spanish top-flight for next season. Their next aim with just three remaining will be to seal the Segunda title, with Rayo Vallecano currently top of the table, one point ahead of the visitors.

Huesca are currently on a six-game unbeaten run in the Spanish second tier. However, their recent away form in the Segunda has not been great, as they have won just five of their last seven games on their travels. Those two away wins have been in their last two games on the road, though, as they recorded victories at Tenerife and Cordoba.

The home side are not mathematically out of the race for the play-off spots in the Segunda. They are eight points behind sixth-place Real Oviedo with a game in-hand. However, Francisco’s side are currently 12th in the table, with many teams ahead of them in the race for a top-six finish.

A recent inconsistent run of form in the Segunda has hindered their chances of sealing a play-off spot, as they have won just one of their last eight games in the Spanish second tier.

Too many draws have been the home side’s most recent problem, as they have drawn three of their last four outings in the Segunda.

This unlikely to be an easy game for Huesca but Forebet predicts that the visitors will seal promotion with a victory in a high scoring encounter.
