On Saturday, Augsburg host high-flying Schalke in the Bundesliga, as the visitors attempt to seal a spot in next seasons Champions League.

Augsburg have endured an inconsistent Bundesliga campaign, sitting 11th place in the German top-flight table. One win in their last six league outings has prevented the home side challenging for a European spot.

Augsburg are now three games unbeaten in the Bundesliga, drawing twice and winning once. Last time out the home side drew 2-2 at Hertha Berlin.

Manuel Baum’s side has a poor recent home record in the Bundesliga, winning just one of their last five home league games, losing four times in the process. A 2-0 win over Mainz in their last home outing ended a four-game losing run on home soil.

The home side has also conceded at least two goals in three of their last four home games in the league. Augsburg have won just one of their last 14 meetings with Schalke.

Schalke have been one of the surprise packages in the Bundesliga this season, currently sitting second –place in the German top-flight.

In fact, just a point in this clash would mean that the team from Gelsenkirchen would seal a top-four berth and a Champions League spot.

Despite their lofty position, the visitors have won just once in their last four games in the Bundesliga. Last time out in the German top-flight, Schalke drew 1-1 with Monchengladbach.

Domenico Tedesco’s side has enjoyed mixed fortunes on their travels of late in the German top-flight, winning three of their last six away games in the league.

Schalke have scored in their last 13 away games in the Bundesliga, so are dangerous in attack away from.

Forebet predicts that Schalke will record a comfortable victory in a high scoring clash to seal a Champions League spot for next season.
